Web housecleaning…

You may recall I had a column of links showing you the various Web2.0 place you could find me online. Well that list was getting a bit unwieldy and creeping further down the page as I joined more sites.

So, in the spirit of clear and simple, I dropped the list of links and moved them into a single web page called “web-footprint.” More importantly, I grouped the various links together so you can see the relationships I have implemented.

Take a look when you get a moment, I think you’ll find it valuable.

Fail fast they say. Innovate or die! Words to live by according to leading Internet venture-ists.

But what happens when a bad wind blows? What happens when the brilliant idea dulls and can’t gain traction so it slowly, and painfully, withers on the Internet vine, finally dropping into obscurity?

Well, if you are fan of the Deadpool concept you’ll love this.

For Whom The Knol Tells

Authority, advertising and effective search. That’s what google is offering with Knols. Google Knol’s are new. They offer the apparent ease of unprecedented publication and distribution for your content. But what are they, how will they ultimately get used and will they survive long enough to make it into the mainstream of Internet Marketing? And for those interested in SEO/SEM there’s the million dollar question… do Knol’s get indexed by the search engines?

“What is a knol?”

A Knol is an authoritative article about a specific topic. It’s a single web page and it resides within the protected walls of Google’s dominion. Some experts are crying “foul” and claiming Google is a media company rather than a search company and is doing ‘this’ for the money, but frankly all the noise is somewhat moot. Google has already done it. The Knol is here, what we do with it, and what the implications are is still unfolding.

It’s a funny thing being in business for yourself. There are so many things to consider, today I want to share with you a thought about effective control, so who runs your show?

A wise friend once told me that if more than 15% of your gross revenue comes from a single source, this single source can affect the course of your destiny.

I’ve just launched two new websites today - simple and clean, no fuss service websites. They address the requests I’ve been receiving to offer coaching. The two new sites are:

The Executive Internet Coaching is a monthly program with scheduled weekly coaching calls and I’ve priced it very aggressively which means two things: there’s only 10 more spots left in the Internet Coaching program and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Knol SEO, Here We Go Again…

Knol SEO is a popular new search phrase, and at the time of writing this post, I hold the #1 spot on Google for the phrase “knol seo“, and just in case Google sees fit to make a liar out of me, here’s a screen shot I just grabbed as proof :-)

Why are Knols important?

It’s the old truism ‘content is king’ and Google proves making Knols to promote your business, products and services is a great way to achieve enhanced Internet Marketing exposure.  And unlike Wikipedia…

Mobile Email Woes… What Went Wrong?

August 21, 2008 by James · Comment

According to Jordan Ayan, CEO of SubscriberMail, at least half of corporate email administrators turn off images on incoming emails. And according to Marketing Sherpa, 64% of key decision makers read their email on a mobile device, so unless they’re using an iPhone the majority will not get images and the email will be garbled with meaningless HTML code. Basically your email looks terrible! (Hint, this was why I dumped my BlackBerry and moved to iPhone.)

Are You Really This Gullible?

I love a good success story and recently watched a video from a fellow Internet marketer who was showing us proof he was indeed “master of his dominion.” To prove it he filmed himself opening his daily mail and showed us a pile of checks with their corresponding monetary amounts.

These checks added up to a pretty penny - and allegedly they were for a short time period too. This is all good stuff, and I am not disputing the truth of the video. What I am wondering is though is are you really this gullible?

Mashing and pipes - what do they mean? Not much to the average Joe, but if (like me) you once were a Unix then the mere mention of Pipes sends thrills down your spine.

Ok, maybe not thrills, but if you knew the power of Pipes in the 80’s and 90’s - you’ll freak out when you see what they can do today!

And for those of you who asked me “James, can I aggregate my RSS feeds and then perform filtering and other clever stuff?” the answer is still yes… and here’s how:

Welcome to the wonderful world of Yahoo Pipes.
