Almost every service business can make serious money using Yellow Pages advertising. The checklist below gives you all the pointers you need to create a profitable ad that will perform year after year after year…

  1. Does your ad start with a powerful headline? Yes No
  2. Is your headline in large letters (not all capitals, first letter of each word in capitals) Yes No
  3. Is the ad in columns like editorial? Yes No
  4. Is the first letter of the ad a large ‘drop capital’? Yes No
  5. Is the font you use for your main text (copy) a serif font (i.e. Times New Roman) Yes No
  6. Is your first sentence powerful enough to get the reader to read the next sentence and so on? Yes No
  7. Do you use sub heads throughout the ad to capture the interest of ’skimmers’? Yes No
  8. Is your ‘call to action’ strong? (are you telling the reader what to do next) Yes No
  9. Is the name of your service business and the address at the bottom of the ad (in small letters) and not at the top? Yes No
  10. Do you use bullet points, bold and underline throughout your ad? Yes No
  11. Do you have at least one testimonial in the ad? Yes No
