Use Sub-Domains to Socialize the Web Experience

Owning your own domain is one thing and creating an information rich website that helps your clients and customers achieve their objectives is a must. But what about the impact social websites are having on the user experience when it comes to navigation and finding your way around?
I’m a member of dozens of websites, I join more regularly and many of these sites are highly visible brands and represent additional value to my clients - but only if they can find me there…
So how have I made it a little easier for my visitors to find me on these other popular social sites? Here’s how…
Sub Domains
Simply put, I have mapped all of the popular social sites I am member of to a correseponding sub-domain on my main web address. Now, instead of you having to remember:
- http://jamesburchill.stumbleupon.com/public/ to view my Stumbles
you can simply type:
And instead of trying to remember my YouTube profile you can now type:
